OpenZFS User and Developer Summit 2026

The OpenZFS User and Developer Summit is an opportunity for individual and corporate users and developers of OpenZFS to meet face-to-face and discuss and share our work and ideas.
The 2026 event is spread across four days, and includes two days of user topics from experts using OpenZFS in production, one day of developer presentations and discussion, and the final day devoted to our traditional Hackathon.

Call for Participation
We are now accepting proposals for presentations of all kinds related to OpenZFS.
Please submit your proposal via email to Matt Ahrens <matt@mahrens.org>, including a 1-2 paragraph abstract. Friday, September 11 2026 is the deadline for proposals.
We are particularly interested in fostering a diverse group of speakers. Mentorship is available to help make your presentation the best it can be.
If you need inspiration, the most popular presentations include:
- internal details of new or upcoming OpenZFS features
- explanations of how existing OpenZFS subsystems work
- integrating OpenZFS with other tools and systems to solve real-world problems
- discussions of using OpenZFS in the extremes - large arrays, high throughput, difficult regulatory environments, and similar.
Roundtable discussion topics are discussed each week on the OpenZFS Production User Call and you are welcome to join a call to discuss your areas of interest.
Presentations should be 1920 X 1080 resolution for use with an HDMI-equipped projector.

Venue
The 2026 OpenZFS User and Developer Summit will take place at 5500 SW Dosch Road, Portland, Oregon, in the Hillsdale neighborhood. The venue has ample parking and is served by the 54 TriMet bus route. Social events will take place at and near the venue. Portland International Airport (PDX) serves over 75 destinations and Portland is served by Amtrak and various busses.
The MAX light rail Red line provides easy transportation from the airport to downtown, and we suggest any downtown hotel that fits your budget and to take the bus or Lyft/Uber to the venue. The intersection of SW 6th Avenue and SW Morrison is one block from stops for the light rail and bus lines, making this a good starting place if you want to rely on public transportation.
The Portland State University University Place Hotel is attractive because of its competitive rates and general proximity to the venue.
